Town and Village of Fort Ann collection, 1790-1996.

The Town and Village of Fort Ann Collection consists of correspondence, newspaper articles, postcards, photographs, and maps collected by Town historians and by the Washington County historian. These documents describe the establishment of the Village in 1820, land purchases, early school attendance, and elections, the proposed municipal water system in 1912, local business (in particular a sawmill located in the town), the restoration of Fort Ann, the Comstock Post Office, a boundary dispute between Warren and Washington counties in 1965, and the burn plant. Included in the collection is the Thaddeus Dewey Papers.
